Make it at home

Soup

Tomato & White Bean Soup

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) white beans, drained
  • 2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  1. Soften the onion and garlic in the olive oil for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the tomatoes, beans, broth and basil.
  3. Simmer 15 minutes, then blend partly for a creamy texture.

A simple, vegetable-rich meal. If nighttime urination bothers you, enjoy soups earlier in the day.

  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened dried cranberries
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  1. Toss everything together.

Talk with your doctor. Urinary symptoms can have many causes, so get them checked by a doctor rather than self-treating. See a doctor right away if you cannot urinate at all, see blood in your urine, have pain with fever and chills, or have severe lower belly pain. Research to date suggests saw palmetto on its own is probably not helpful for enlarged-prostate symptoms; less is known about combination products. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any supplement with prescription medicine.
